With the new Storage Migration Service (SMS), data transfer could be done easily with its new features that:
- Enables administrators to stock existing servers for their data, security, and system settings.
- Migrates data to a new advanced target using SMB protocol.
- Assumes control over the identity of the old server totally, while decommissioning the first source, such that clients and applications are unaffected and unaware that relocation has occurred.
SMS gives coordinated work process with Honolulu-based graphical management framework. This permits versatile data migrations of numerous servers simultaneously to new targets running on-premises or in Azure.
